Our story
Our family started in the Lowcountry of South Carolina where we learned from watching Mom in the kitchen that preparing food for someone is one of the greatest ways to express your love for family and friends.
Sweet Bay Foods began with handcrafted nut brittle, but our story has always been about more than one product. We are growing into a South Carolina specialty-foods company built around simple, full-flavored foods, family traditions, and recipes that tell a story with every bite.
We are a family-owned and operated business that hopes to share a little of our Lowcountry love with you!
Fun Facts!
January 26th is National Peanut Brittle Day!
According to one account, peanut brittle was a Celtic dessert. The Celts covered peanuts in sugar and baked them, and this eventually evolved into a caramel bark.
Did you know? Kiwifruit doesn’t grow on trees—it grows on long, woody vines that require sturdy support.
Most kiwifruit varieties have separate male and female vines. The male vine provides the pollen, while the female vine produces the fruit.
Did you know?
Sweet Bay Magnolia trees are part of our lowcountry landscape. They have beautiful creamy white flowers that have a light lemon scent. Sweet Bay Magnolias were our Granny’s favorite tree and inspired our company name!
